NJ Inshore Bluefin Tuna Fishing Charters
Bluefin Tuna Fishing Charters start early, leaving Shark River Inlet and traveling to the Inshore Tuna Grounds before dawn. Tuna trips are usually 20 to 60 miles offshore and travel time is generally less than two hours. Bluefin Tuna fishing is done one of three ways: Trolling. Jigging and Bait Trolling - We begin trolling in July to locate schools of Bluefin Tuna. We generally troll a 7-9 rod spread, as multiple hook-ups make the process more exciting. Jigging - Once we locate the schools we can start to jig for tuna, which is a light tackle and hands on fishing. Yo-yo jigging is finding the right depth, then working the jig up and down. Speed jigging is fast jigging from bottom to top for great action. Bait - Since most of the jig fishing is on the drift, we also use bait rods out to make the most of each trip. |
